Sodick Brings Innovation to MACH

Published: | Industry News, MACH 2026

Returning to MACH bigger and better than ever, Sodick Europe, along with sole UK distributor Sodi-Tech EDM, will display six machines on Stand 350 in Hall 20. With live demonstrations of pioneering technology, including industry-leading wire EDM, die sink EDM, and high-end machining centre innovations, MACH attendees will not want to miss this technology masterclass.

The Sodick ALC600P ‘i Groove + Edition’ marks a significant leap in wire EDM technology, combining high-speed processing with energy-efficient operation. This award-winning machine features several innovative elements that establish new sector standards. The ALC600P ‘i Groove + Edition’ incorporates Sodick’s iGroove patented wire rotation technology that spins the wire during cutting to improve precision, performance, wire stability and surface finish while reducing wire consumption by up to 30%. The i Groove technology ensures uniformly finished, precision results from top to bottom of the workpiece.

Continuing the precision focus, the ALC600P ‘i Groove + Edition’ includes a CNC controller that now incorporates 2-dimensional pitch compensation software that automatically compensates positional pitch error every 10 by 10mm square, which guarantees pitch accuracy to +/-1 micron. Underpinning this precision are cross-type roller guides that provide astounding rigidity. Even the door to the machine has been constructed from carbon fibre to minimise ‘weight shift’ during operation.

With precision, repeatability and productivity at the centre of this machine, Sodick has introduced its TH COM thermal displacement correction function. This advanced feature allows the machine to operate at its optimal precision level in a wide range of temperature conditions. Additionally, the machine includes a logging function and a temperature display of the machine's environment, providing valuable information for optimal performance and maintenance.

Another outstanding feature is the Sodick-developed and manufactured linear motors. The high-speed axis movement and quick response that result from wear-free motion break free from old-fashioned ball screws. The linear motors provide motion directly to each axis without the need to convert rotational motor motion to linear movements. When combined with the introduction of new advanced absolute linear glass scales, total positional control is a certainty at all times, drastically reducing setup times for operators whilst delivering unsurpassed kinematic performance.

At MACH, Sodick will also showcase the impressive VN600Q precision wire-cut EDM machine. Featuring an automatic wire threading unit for uninterrupted machining and Sodick’s Fixed Jet AWT system, which includes a pop-up search, wire annealing, a compact wire collection mechanism, precise wire threading guides, as well as upper and lower guides with automated cleaning, the VN600Q has been designed for continuous production with unmatched flexibility.

With 70% of EDM energy typically consumed in the treatment of dielectric fluid, the VN600Q significantly reduces operational costs with its new fluid control circuit that uses an inverter to control the vertical flushing flow rate during machining.

With its newly developed energy-efficient pump and the Intelligent Monitoring Circuit that tracks the vertical flushing flow rate, the VN Series achieves a remarkable 20% reduction in power consumption – making this range appealing to all budgets. When paired with the LN3W controller, the cutting speed is increased by up to 15%, making this new model an exceptionally efficient and productive addition to your machine shop.

Alongside the world’s leading EDM technology, visitors will have the opportunity to see the full range of products, including the linear motor AD55L and the premium AL60G die sink EDM machines, displayed alongside the impressive UX450L high-end machining centre and injection moulding technology. To explore the level of technology integrated into the wire EDM range, as well as the extensive collection of machining centres, die sink EDM and injection mould innovations, visit Stand 350 in Hall 20 at MACH and engage with our experts from the Sodick Europe team.
